How and Where to Give This Giving Tuesday

by Maggie Suszka

Hearing the words “Giving Tuesday” fully rings in the holiday season for me. And with cyber monday and black friday out of the way, it’s time for giving tuesday to shine. Giving encapsulates what the holidays should be all about – giving to others – whether monetarily, in love or support, time, resources, in your voice – or even through listening.

Giving Tuesday is also known as the “Global Generosity Movement”. The day is defined as, “A movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world on December 3, 2019 and every day,” according to GivingTuesday.org

Giving Tuesday was birthed in 2012 with the inherent goal of getting people to do some good! In whatever way they would like to. Sometimes we need an extra push and a bit of a compass to set us on the doing good track, and there is an abundance of organizations and groups to donate to, work, volunteer and learn with. Giving Tuesday notes that the best way to get involved is by starting with your community. They’ve created a directory to help you find organizations, events, and ways to give back in your own community. Find out what’s happening near you here

I decided to do a quick scrub for the cities that most of our readers are from: Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington D.C.
