POC Owned Hair Brands to Inspire Your Quarantine Hair Care Routine

by Amanda Smith

It’s no secret that we’re all stepping up our skincare, nail-care, body-care and hair-care routines now that we have more time on our hands. In doing so, let’s support our POC community by sharing and shopping our favorite POC Owned Hair Brands.

Curl Mix

Curlmix is great for any curly hair type (yes, there’s many types) because they offer a quiz that can help you select the best products for your hair care routine. They have everything from shampoo and conditioners, to pillowcases and brushes! What we love most about them is how they exclusively showcase POC women on their social platforms. Gone are the days you look at models and influencers on a brands page and wish you looked like them!

Botanika

Ada Rojas, Latina creator and owner of Botanika knew there was a gap in the market for Latina hair care. Taking the leap, she created Botanika and now her products are sold at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and many other stores. What makes Botanika so amazing is how affordable yet high-quality each product is. The oil serum or protein treatment is great for a nightly routine and all under $12. Girl and Hair

This one has got to be one of the top “Must Try” POC brands on this list. Owned by a Black Dermatologist, Dr. Howard formulated products that work to relieve itchy dry scalps, promote growth and eliminate odor. You can find Girl and Hair products at Target, Sally Beauty, Amazon, and many more. Not to mention the packaging is so cute and their customers are RAVING. Their most popular product: Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse for only $12.99!

Briogeo

We couldn’t not include Briogeo. Not only do they have a wide range of products for all natural hair types, but their efforts to create clean and conscious products have also made a huge difference for their customers. They use mostly natural performing ingredients, have a no ingredient black list, and create all their products cruelty-free. Briogeo also has a blog on their website where employees, creators, and working professionals share their hair care tips. If you’re looking to give this a go, we recommend their Be Gentle, be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask. It’s a mouthful but your hair and scalp will thank you!

Baby Tress

Though this isn’t a universally needed product, if you do need it, this is the best to buy from. Baby Tress makes these adorable edge stylers with three functions in one! The pointed end makes parting hair a breeze, natural boar bristles help define the shape of the curl, and a comb to separate and smooth, and the amazing colors it comes in only makes it easier to introduce to your self-care routine.

If you have tried any of these brands let us know in the comments below! If there are any we missed (there are so many to choose from) share it with us @thechilltimes!
